Albanian Development Fund (ADF) is committed to the goal of sustainable development and conservation of nature and natural resources. ADF as Implementing Agency applies the highest standards throughout the transparent development and implementation of operational plans and protocols in reaching the objectives and targets. ADF commitment to the environment, social issues and also health and safety at work, extends to our partners, our staff, and the community in which we operate. All contractors/sub-contractors and suppliers are obligated to comply with ADF E&S Policy.

Albanian Development Fund has the immense opportunity to develop significant progress in meeting many development challenges, through the instrument of financing the projects in environmental and social sound way.

Environmental and Social sustainability encompasses the protection of people’s lives and health, the economic basis of their livelihood and their ecological, social and cultural environment as well as the sustainable use of natural resources.

Through preparation of Environmental and Social Management Framework (ESMF) and Resettlement Policy Framework (RPF) for each program, and also preparation of ESIA, ESMP and RAP/LARF (if needed) for each project, ADF is committed to:

  • Comply with all applicable environmental and social regulations;
  • Prevent pollution whenever possible;
  • Communicate our environmental and social commitment and efforts to our partners, staff, and our community;
  • Continually improve over time by striving to measure our environmental impacts and by setting goals to reduce these impacts each year;
  • Achieve a comprehensive assessment of impacts or formal environmental and social impact assessment for all projects;
  • Achieve a comprehensive risk assessment and implement an appropriate monitoring of environmental and social requirements for all projects;
  • Fairly compensated all the affected people, for land acquisitions and all assets impacted, including the vegetation;
  • Train all of our staff throughout environmental and social programmes and empower them to contribute and participate;
  • Apply all requirements of E&S Policies in the contracts with the contractors/sub-contractors and suppliers.

 

Other Commitments

One of key principles of the ADF is the implementation of works by taking care for the health and safety of staff, partners, contractors and their staff and also of the communities where we operate. ADF is committed to achieve and maintain the “Zero Accident” performance and work with other parties to promote Health and Safety efficiency throughout the continuity of our projects, and without compromises on these key principles.
