Tirana- As work continues intensively on both segments of LOT II, which crosses the villages of Gjorm-Brataj-Lasko Bridge, monitoring has increased in certain areas. This is due to some problems encountered at the beginning of the segment during excavations and fillings. Following an inspection of the companies conducting the works, ADF’s supervisors and representatives agreed to avoid the problematic terrain by identifying a new trail, which cuts distance and reduces costs.

Vlora River Road is a project funded by the Albanian Government, the Kuwaiti Fund and the Saudi Development Fund. The road traverses the villages of Vlora, Selenica and Himara municipalities and will enable the connection of two national roads (SH4-SH8), including an thoroughfare that enables connection to the city of Vlora.

Every day dynamic tests are carried out for the subbase and structure works are being constructed. Geotextile technology will be used for asphalt paving of the Vlora River Road. Geotextile is widely used in civil works projects in developed countries. It improves the characteristics of land where it is being built making it more sustainable. This also reduces maintenance costs after the works are completed. Through geotextile it is possible to build roads even in extremely difficult terrains. The same technology was used earlier for the reconstruction of the Lushnja Agricultural Ring and will also be used for the Pogradec - Tushemisht road, which has started some weeks ago.
