The consequences of natural disasters and the management of the recovery process have a direct impact on the lives of citizens and can change the future of a region forever. In modern history there have been many cases where earthquakes or similar natural disasters have radically changed the pattern of development in the affected areas. Reconstruction provides the opportunity to solve long-standing problems: improving building standards, renovating the infrastructure, creating new ways of using space, restoring the economy and improving governance.

This is what is intended to be done in the areas affected by the November 26 earthquake after the first phase of the emergency. The Reconstruction Committee that was set up shortly after the earthquake happened will oversee the design of the reconstruction program that will focus on social rebuilding and development, economic revitalization, institutional, urban and environmental recovery.Based on these orientation pillars, work is being done on the design of all program components and the relevant legal framework with a view to addressing the medium- and long-term consequences for the overall recovery of affected areas.
