The Master Plan of Alps focuses on the sustainable development of the region and its transformation into an important tourism pole, preserving the stunning beauties and cultural richness. The draft of the Master Plan started in 2016 and ended in December 2017.

The Master Plan extends in 4 municipalities and 12 administrative units:
- Pult, Shosh, Shale part of the Municipality of Shkodra;
- Shllak and Temal part of the Municipality of Vau i Dejes;
- Kelmend and Shkrel part of the Municipality of Malesi e Madhe;
- Bajram Curri, Bujan, Margegaj, Lekbibaj and Tropoja e Vjeter part of the Municipality of Tropoja

Proper orientation of development policies and strategies, products creation, diversification of tourist offer, promotion of tourism infrastructure and human resources development will contribute to increase the welfare of the locals.

The National Sectoral Tourism Plan for the Albanian Alps (NSTP) is part of the Master Plan. After many public consultations, this document determines the development pillars of the Alps region for the next 15 years.

Through this Master Plan, the Albanian Alps embark on a new development cycle based on a new balanced territorial approach aimed at protecting the environment, fostering the local economy and integrating it in the tourism industry.
