The city of Fier was designed according to the European Renaissance Cities Model of the 19th century. Its main activity was trading of agricultural products in the areas of Myzeqe and Mallakastra.
Due to its geographical position is considered as "the heart of Myzeqe" and is the largest district of the country after Tirana.

Fier is a city located in southwestern Albania and borders with Lushnja, Berat, Vlora and Mallakastra.
In this city crosses the river Gjanice, 67 km which originates from Pocem and Kalivac. The river is part of the downtown landscape. The area is in process of urban re-qualification by the Albanian Development Fund.
