TIRANA-Works for the underground network and structure are continuing with fast pace in Shiroka Square.

The second step after the implementation of the underground network consists of the placing of the special tiles on Shiroka’s square, whose mosaics are inspired by the traditional motives.

At the same time, works are continuing on the platform of the lake, and in the area where people do picnics. There will be also a parking spot in this area.

The project foresees:

  • reconstruction of an area 20.000 m2 and 2000 m2 regarding the building facades near the square.

Other details of the project consist of:

  • decoration with stones and woods, lighting system, traffic signage and greenery.

The investment for the reconstruction of Shiroka square is expected to be joined in the future with the project “Requalification of the Western Coast in Shkodra Lake” Currently, the lake area does not use the entire potential. The entrance area to Shiroka and Zogaj village has been neglected for years.

It is characterized by a poor infrastructure, demolished or degraded houses, while the shore of the lake in certain areas appears damaged and polluted.

The project aims to turn Shiroka into an important recreational, cultural and tourist center, urging activities that take place near the lake and to renew the history and tradition of the area.
