In the Municipality of Divjaka live 34,254 inhabitants and it lies on a plain terrain. The area has typically Mediterranean climate with very favourable characteristics for the development of tourism as sun is present 230-240 days per year. Beside that the National Park “Divjaka-Karavasta” is 5 km away from the city, which is part of the Karavasta Lagoon and is under the protection of the Ramsar International Convention, as one of the most important ecosystems in the country with very diverse fauna.

Through the systemization of the Sotallar’s neighborhood, The Albanian Development Fund with the financing of the area for the residents as well as it adds another asset for the tourist offer. Given that Divjaka is located in a rural and fruitful area, where the main economic activities are related to agriculture and a small amount of fishing in the Karavasta lagoon, the investment on the Sotallar’s neighbourhood encourages new initiatives for tourism in agriculture, livestock, fishing, etc.

During the realization of this project, didn't miss the support and contribution of the residents, who voluntarily removed the surrounding walls in their apartments, thus making possible the realization of the project, but also for the development of the city. Worth mentioning the fact that this area has been transformed into a residential area according to the requirements and standards of the time.

As an area located in the south-west of the country, where the Karavasta National Park is visited by about 300,000 daily tourists per year, with the realization of this project the city becomes more tangible for visitors but also an important attraction for the development of family tourism as the area stands out for natural beauty and high productivity.

Moreover, the rehabilitation of the neighbourhood increases the access to the market and farms close to the area but also it affects export as their products are traded beyond the borders, including watermelon, carrots, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, tomatoes, potatoes, beans, olive etc.
