Direct beneficiaries 88,000 inhabitants

New rural water supply schemes start implementation work in October, which will supply with potable water about 88,000 inhabitants of more than 70 villages across Albania.

Up to 20 schemes will be constructed under the framework of Rural Water Supply Program III (RWSP III), implemented by the Albanian Development Fund and funded by the Albanian government, German government through KfW Development Bank and European Union.

The whole program lasts 5 years and aims at supplying with potable water 24 hours/day population in rural areas.

  

This program is divided in 4 Lots extended in the four regions of the country.

The first Lot is extended in the Southeast of the country and foresees three water supply schemes in 16 villages: Menkulas, Poncare, Bracaj, Dobraj, Zicisht, Sul, Gjyres, Fitore, Koshnice in Devoll municipality; Kamenice and Dvoran in Korce municipality, Kovanik Bardhaj, Skenderbej, Sutaj, and Rrajce in Perrenjas municipality.

Works on the second Lot, extended in the North of the country starts in November. The second Lot six three water supply schemes in 25 villages: Municipality of Diber: (Dohoshisht, Cetush, Pollozhan, Tomin), Klos municipality (Skenderaj, Kurdari, Suc, Kujtim), Tropoje municipality (Tropoje-Fshat, Kucane, Kasaj, Vicidol, Mejdan, Kojel Shpat, Fushe, Shumice, Babine, Rrogam, Cernice, Dunishe, Bukove, Llugaj), Lezhe municipality (Kallmet i madh and Kallmet i vogel) and Mat municipality (German, Midhe, Koder Qerre).

Next year, in January starts work in Lot three. Five new schemes will be constructed in 12 villages in the southwestern region of Albania.In this Lot are included 4 water supply schemes:

In Lot four are included four water supply schemes for these villages: Vilez, Zall – Bastar, Zall – Dajt, Shengjin i Vogel, Besh municipality of Tirana, Shkëmbi i Kavajes area, Arapaj, Xhafzotaj, Jube, Erzen, Qarret, Katund i Ri, Fllake, Sektor Rinia and Manez in municipality of Durres.

Rural Water Supply Program III comes in line with the previous RWSP I & II, in the framework of which, since 2008, there have been built 53 water supply schemes for 40,000 inhabitants. The 2020 will mark the completion of the Rural Water Program III.
