Tirana- Basic care in an accident can save lives. But not only that. Basic care and how an injured people is treated is also crucial for recovery time. If given properly it may shorten the healing time and if not, it can cause even more damage.

To raise awareness about the importance of basic care and to increase the capacity of staff to manage such situations, the Albanian Development Fund in cooperation with the Red Cross conducted a two-day training. The training combined theory with practical exercises for managing accident situations and precise interventions in basic care.

The Albanian Development Fund has turned occupational safety and health into a cause of its own. There is increased attention to creating an organizational culture that guarantees the prevention of injury to employees due to the work environment. The focus is not only on ADF’s employees, but also on employees of contracted companies working on projects that ADF implements on behalf of funding parties. During the last month, ADF’s specialists have visited 15 northern construction sites to observe the implementation of technical security rules and raise awareness of the importance of their implementation. The response has been quite positive, and all repeated visits have seen a marked improvement in the use of warning signs, personal protective equipment and other safety measures.
