TIRANA-The growth of tourism over the last 2-3 years has encouraged investments in tourism from private sector mainly in expanding accommodation capacities and services. In the same trend have been increased public investments in road infrastructure and water supply system which aim to increase revenues from tourism sector.

In this framework, in “Shkembi I Kavajes” area and 'Golem" area have been conducted reconstruction works in road especially in residential areas and have been created recreational spaces. Works for adjustments of the internal roads in “Shkembi i Kavajes” area have been completed and now are focused in “Perroi i Durresit” area, which until today was considered a threat to the health of the inhabitants due to pollution.

 

Meanwhile, works are towards completion in the area from the roundabout of Golem to Well No.1. Asphalting of the road, pavements on both sides (3 meter wide) have been completed. The process of placing vertical signage is ongoing.

There are about 3.2 km roads treated, including the promenade and the parallel road.

The area of “Shkembi I Kavajes” and “Golem” are frequented throughout the year. The number of visitors grows especially in summer. Czech, Polish and Slovak tourists as well as tourists from northern Europe like to spend their holidays in these places.
