The relief is characterized  by strong contrasts, where the great difference between valleys and ridges reaches up to 2000 m. The climate generally is cold. Guesthouses or houses which have preserved their ethnic heritage are considered as \"architecture without architects\".<br \/>\nThe increase of tourist flow in the Albanian Alps has brought  both positive and negative aspects. The accommodation, cuisine, tradition and some other aspects of living in this territory, have oriented the tourist offer.<\/p>\n<p>Based on the following statistical information, this offer has been successful:<br \/>\nThe positive image of the Alps is also reflected in the rating of the area, where: 99.7% of visitors would recommend their experience in the North to someone else.  Visitors also have rated positively some specific aspects such as: \"landscape quality\" (4.51 \/ 5), \"hospitality\" (4.37 \/ 5), \"opportunity to get in touch with the local population\" ( 4.29 \/ 5), \u201clifestyle\u201d (4.13 \/ 5), \u201cspaces around accommodation structures\u201d (4.06 \/ 5). This brings the necessity of a modern infrastructure in service of local and foreign visitors. In this framework, the Albanian Development Fund is following with priority  projects that aim to improve the infrastructure, to bring these northern destinations closer. Projects aims to create recreational spaces with elements of urban furniture, for relaxation and entertainment.
