This project is part of the Albanian Government Program "Community Works III" financed by The Council of Europe Bank, with an estimated cost of 10 million Euros. The Commune of Qender-Vlore is one of the 16 selected communes on the bases of explicit and transparent socio-economic set of criteria.
The project hereunder is foreseen to be implemented on three road sections, at an overall length of 6.5 km by 5.5 m wide, the first section of which is 1.1 km long and is being constructed with the funds from the Qender Commune; the other two sections, which are respectively 2.5 km and 2.9 km, are being constructed through the investment of the Albanian Development Fund.
The road is designed to have a width of 5.5 km with pedestrian's walkways on each side and the illumination system.
The project cost is estimated at 33 million Leks and 450 households will directly benefit from this investment.
Present at this meeting were: the chairman of the Qender-Vlore Commune, Mr.Fredo Berberi, the project-designer, specialists of the urbanization office at the commune, administrative staff, inhabitants, teachers, doctors, representatives from ADF etc.
Mr. Berberi, in his speech, thanked ADF for funding this significant project for the commune, for the positive impact on the life quality for the inhabitants of the surrounding villages, on the development of tourism which will be an outcome of the project implementation. Other issues, such as the environmental mitigation measures which were to be considered during the project implementation, were discussed in this meeting.
Alongside the impact on the improvement of the transport services and the facilitation of the socio-economic activity, the project aims at enhancing the tourism potentials in this region.
With the concern of attaining the above-mentioned goal, Qender commune in cooperation with ADF have initiated the work for the design of the Tourism Development Strategic Planning which will be an instructive guidance to the development and safeguarding of Narta Lagoon, Zvernec villages and the areas in the vicinity.
