On Monday, December 15 2009, at ADF premises, the staff participated in the campaign for voluntary blood donation launched by the Albanian Red Cross under the motto "Donate Blood and Save a life!". This initiative of the ADF staff is a direct aid to the Albanian children who suffer from thalassemia.

Blood donation is a human act, a simple act but which succours numerous thalassemic children in need of blood transfusion or saves the lives of those peole who are having surgery.

The ADF staff join for the first time such a campaign, contributing thus even modestly, in the promotion of such an important messsage as the blood donation.

During the blood donation activity, representatives of the Albanian Red Cross highlighted the importance of voluntary blood donation at a time when the hospitals cannot meet the increasing demands for blood.

Estimates say that beside the emergency cases, there are about 500 children in Albania who suffer from thalassemia and who depend on the donated blood to live their lives like all other children.
