A work team from the Albanian Council of Ministers and the Albanian Development Fund held a work meeting at the Commune of Gracanica in the Republic of Kosovo. This meeting was organized in the framework of the project proposals selection from the commune of Gracanica in relation to the investments which are going to be carried out from the 400 thousand euro funding that the Albanian Government has planned in support of the newly established Communes in Kosovo.
The Albanian work team was represented by Mr.Ylli Asllani, Advisor on Local and Regional Governance Mr. Islam Lauka, the Albanian Ambassador in Kosovo, Mr. Benet Beci, Executive Director of ADF as well as the ADF community investment coordinators Mr. Tritan Brahimaj, and Mr. Erik Qirjaqi.The Kosovo counterparts were represented by Mr. Sllobodan Petrovic, Deputy and Chairman of the Liberal Party, Mr. Bojan Stojanovic, the Chairman of Gracanica Commune as well as members of his staff.
The contribution of the Albanian Government is considered being made at the right moment and transmits concrete messages of prosperity. That is why, this initiative is greeted with sympathy and special gratitude from the Commune of Gracanica and its community.
The newly established Commune has about 20 thousand inhabitants mainly of Serbian community. The Assistance of the Albanian Government constitutes a considerable incentive in its efforts to improve the citizens’ lives but especially in establishing a collaborative climate among ethnies of this community.
The Commune had prepared a plan of action with concrete project proposals in the sphere of investments. Based on this plan of action, four project proposals were selected. These projects will have an impact not only on the communal investments but they will also contribute to creating a climate of understanding and harmony among communities.
The meeting was conducted in a warm and positive spirit, where conditions for a broader long-term cooperation were also established.
