Kurbin, 24 November 2009 - The Prime Minister Berisha inaugurated the works completion for the reconstruction of the road "Fushe Milot-Gurrez" in the District of Kurbin

Yesterday afternoon the Prime Minister Berisha inaugurated the works completion for the reconstruction of the road "Fushe Milot-Gurrez" in the District of Kurbin. The cost of this project which is implemented by the Albanian Development Fund (ADF) amounts at 100 million Lek and is financed by the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB) and the Albanian Government.

- In his inaugural speech on the occasion, Prime Minister said:
"I have the pleasure of sharing with you the inauguration joy for the reconstruction of the road “Fushe Milot-Gurrez” and its extension via an investment of 1 million dollars in order to change its infrastructure. It is an investment which you the hard-working inhabitants of Gurrez, Fushe Milot fully deserve owing to your great devotion to work, family and country".

The overall length of this reconstructed road section is 7.2 km with a pavement width which varies from 4 to 5 m. The works of this road axis are carried out according to European standards and parameters. The upgrading of the drain channels for this area is also accomplished in the course of this project. There are about 5000 inhabitants who are going to benefit from this project whose final outcome will be on the one hand the decrease in the transport time and on the other hand the increase in access to essential services and regional markets.

In the framework of this project, the Albanian Development Fund in cooperation with the local consultants has drafted the Local Development Plan which is based on the resources of Fushe-Kuqe Commune.

This project is part of the "Community Works III" Program which is funded by CEB and aims at improving the quality of life for the inhabitants in rural areas via investments in infrastructure, the designing of local development plans for the communes which possess economic development potentials especially in tourism.
