Berat, 20 April 2010 - The ADF carries on with the public consultations concerning the environmental impact of the road constructions

On April 16, 2010, public consultations were held to introduce and discuss over the report on the environmental impact assessment of the road sections “Mbrakull-Kapinove” in the Commune of Vertop, and “Pronovik-Novaj” in Bogove Commune, in Berati Region. The investments in these road sections will be carried out in the framework of the “Secondary and Local Roads” project funded by JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency).

“The Secondary and Local Roads” Project aims at improving the access to basic services and at increasing the opportunities of economic, agricultural and tourist development for the beneficiary population via the rehabilitation of the main rural road network in Albania. Also, in the framework of this project funded by the World Bank, construction works have finished in the road axis from “Gorica Bridge” to “Mbreshtan Village” and are near completion the works of the road section from Mbreshtan to Sinje.

These meetings were attended by representatives of Berati Region, beneficiary communes and villages, representatives of JICA and ENI Consulting Company which has drafted the Environmental Impact Assessment Reports for the above mentioned road sections. These meetings were organized by the ADF’s environment experts.

During these meetings numerous discussions and suggestions were made to be followed by the presentation of the projects and environmental impact assessment reports.
