Tirana, 26 April 2010 - Design and Supervision Contract Award for the start of works concerning the Rural Water Supply Schemes in the three Regions of Albania


Today on April 26th 2010, at the premises of the Albanian Development, four companies which are specialized in hydrology and water supply scheme construction were awarded the design and supervision contracts for the start of works concerning the construction of Rural Water Supply Schemes in the framework of the "Rural Water Supply Program". The project design work is expected to start in the course of this week.

"Rural Water Supply" Program financed by KFW consists in the construction of 28 rural water supply schemes in 50 villages of Shkoder, Kukes and Diber Region thus contributing to the improvement of the living conditions of about 50 thousand inhabitants. The project cost totals 10.7 million Euros.

The RWS Project aims at providing the population in the program villages with hygienic clean water in sufficient quantity based on cost-covering and socially accepted tariffs.

In his greeting speech, Mr.Beci, the Executive Director of the Albanian Development Fund laid the stress on the fact that the close cooperation between the ADF and the awarded companies will lead to the achievements of the objectives in the framework of this project.

This meeting was attended by the representatives of the awarded companies namely, WASIGERBER, GERANI & BASHKIM MATA, MURATAJ& REAN, TAULANTI,representatives of the Hydrologic Projects Unit as well as the of CES Consulting company at the ADF.
