30 September 2009 - Margegaj Commune Council in Tropoja city, on behalf of its inhabitants awarded the Albanian Development Fund with "The certificate of Gratitude" for "the exemplary economic contribution in establishing an infrastructure at European levels with health centers, roads, water supply schemes and cultural center in Margegaj Commune".
This Certificate of Gratitude was delivered to Mr. Benet Beci, the ADF Executive Director, by Mr.Rexh Byberi, the Chairman of Margegaj Commune. There were present at this meeting representatives of Commune Council, ADF and inhabitants of this Commune.
In the opening speech, the Chairman of the Commune, Mr. Byberi thanked and praised ADF for the fruitful cooperation which started in 1993 when ADF was established, and continues to the present day. He underlined the fact that the cooperation has been substantial concerning the assistance provided for the implementation of such projects as: Reconstruction of the road which links the villages of Kocanaj and Shoshan; Reconstruction of the health centers in Shoshan and Dragobi villages, water supply schemes in the villages of Sokolaj-Dragobi, Metalia-Smajlaj-Dragobi, Selimaj-Valbone etc; Reconstruction of the tourism development center in Valbona etc.
Currently, within the framework of "Rural Water Supply Program", ADF is engaged in the construction of a water supply scheme at a cost of US$ 0,8 million funded by KFW, the German Developmet Bank, which will provide drinking water for five villages of this Commune.
Similarly, within the framework of "Community Works Project III" financed by Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB) and the Albanian Government, two infrastructure projects are being implemented in Shoshan village: "The asphalting of 1.6 km of road section in Shoshan village" and "Reconstruction of 1.3 km of road section in Kocanaj village". This project also includes the establishment of a tourist center to promote tourism, accommodation, information and provision of facilities for tourists. This center is expected to further enhance the touristic values of this area and to contribute directly in the development of the Commune.
So far, the total cost on investments carried out in this Commune by ADF from 1993 is over US$ 1 million.
