It is the World Bank through the support of the Albanian Government and Albanian Development Fund which is enabling the implementation of this crucial project for the Commune of Baldushk. This road section starts at "Ura e Farkes" (Farka Bridge), runs through a length of 6.55 km up to Qender Fshat, where is located the final site for the first stage of this project. This road is 7 m wide and its construction includes the construction of retaining walls and open and cement drains. Similarly, there are installed culvert pipes of fi 1000, fi 600 and fi 300. The cost of this project is estimated at 192,806,083 Lek. So far, 60 % of the overall project works volume has been accomplished.
This project is going to have a direct impact on the socio-economic development of the area, on the improvement of the living conditions and on a faster access to the health and education centers. About 5297 inhabitants of 14 villages in the Commune of Baldushk will be the direct beneficiaries of this project. This Commune has closely cooperated with the Albanian Development Fund on Drafting the Local Development Plan, which has been prepared in order to guide the commune and its inhabitants towards a large-scale community development including the socio-economic development, infrastructure, public services and good governance.
The inhabitants of this commune confirm that via this reconstruction it will be easier for them to sell their products in Tirana and Elbasan and they will offer a better provision to these markets with seasonal products. Similarly, the businesses established alongside this road axis expect their benefits to increase considerably after the implementation of this project.
The Commune of Baldushk is only 15 km away from Tirana and it is bordered in the North with the Commune of Vaqarr, in the South with the Commune of Perparim, in the East with the Communes of Berzhite and Petrele and in the West with the Commune of Peze and Kavaja District. The reconstruction of the Road from Ura e Farkes to Qender-Fshat is only one out of 25 projects which are being implemented all over Albania, in the framework of “The rehabilitation of the secondary and Local Roads” Project financed by the World Bank.
